CPS HIGH SCHOOL AND GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

Grade	Present Policy
9th to 10th	Completion of 5 units of credit Passing grades in 3 of 4 ninth grade core courses Unexcused absences affect class grades as follows*: 9-12 absences no grade higher than B 3-17 absences no grade higher than C 8 or more absences no credit granted
10th to 11th	Completion of 11 units of credit Passing grades in 3 of 4 tenth grade core courses Unexcused absences affect class grades as follows*: 12 absences no grade higher than B 17 absences no grade higher than C 18 or more absences no credit granted
11th to 12th	Completion of 17 units of credit Passing grades in 3 of 4 eleventh grade core courses Unexcused absences affect class grades as follows*: 12 absences no grade higher than B 17 absences no grade higher than C 18 or more absences no credit granted
Graduation	Completion of 24/26 units of credit 40 hrs service learning

Mathematics ---Algebra ---Geometry ---Advanced Algebra/Trigonometry	3 Credits
Science ---Biology ---Earth and Space or Environmental Science ---Chemistry or Physics	3 Credits	In line with state goals, one course from each of three focal areas: life science, earth science, physical science; laboratory component required all science courses
Social Science ---World History ---U.S. History ---Elective	3 Credits	Integration of five state social science goals: government, economics, history, geography, and social systems
